Problem

LUCA Technology was working in the dark because statistics were available only in the end of the day. Moreover getting those statistics out of the switch was hard and unsatisfying manual work.

Another two pains for the Luca Technology were Web GUI which was very slow to respond and the generation of invoices which sometimes took almost a full business day making it possible to send the invoices only on the following day.

Solution to a problem

LUCA Technology decided to migrate to Kolmisoft  MOR and 5gVision bundle. It is a full integration of the Kolmisoft advanced VoIP billing software solution MOR and the 5gVision VoIP/SNMP monitoring suite.

This integration allows MOR customers to have real-time charts and reports for over 30 VoIP parameters, including Active calls, Total attempts, Switched minutes, ACD, ASR, ABR, NER, PDD, % of short calls, % of certain disconnect codes, as well as price and profit statistics. One of the unique features of 5gVision charts is ability to compare current statistics with the previous period statistics. It allows zooming any period in the past and seeing detailed statistics at that time.

At the same time MOR enables companies to be more efficient. It is faster and also has more control on debugging. The major reasons why LUCA Technology decided to choose MOR to resolve their challenges are that MOR Web GUI is quick and the invoice generation takes just a few seconds.

 

Results

After LUCA Technology started using MOR- 5gVision bundle, transparency got there instantly. Now they are able to monitor the Softswitch activity inside in a near real time, also seeing how numbers of active calls, ACD, ASR, Short calls, profits etc. are evolving over time in nice and intuitive graphs.

A great result of this change can be every Monday created invoices as now it is done quickly and on demand. Efficiency increased by about 50%.

“Comparing the costs to result into profit, we are saving about 800 USD per month as hard facts (hosted costs versus MOR purchasing depreciation over 3 years and support costs). But of course having our own system gives us more flexibility as well.” Andrew Han added

 

Summary

LUCA Technology is very happy with a combination they have found. MOR is an excellent switching and billing engine; 5gVision is a near-perfect data mining tool for tons of CDRs that normally would require long time to process in order to create a graph or a report. None of simple in-house solutions would work here, once it goes past several million CDR records a month.

“For us, 5gVision is a must have. Most switches give you statistical information, but we cannot see it evolving over time and have no means to create decent reports or get e-mail alerts once some values drop below a specific threshold. After all, it is not a primary purpose of a switch – to visualize your data, so the use of a dedicated stats package makes a lot of difference here.” Andrew Han concluded.
